rental reservation security

Hello again.
Just got flights sorted from Hawaii to visit Jarabacoa and found a pretty awesome villa for rent. However, I also found it rather unusual that credit cards are not accepted- they told me they want a bank transfer. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but if anybody smells a scam on this one please let me know- it sure would ruin our trip! The link is pasted below, the owners are Philip and Andrea Bucher.
Mil gracias,
-Kevin

That's weird, in their add, under 'Highlights', it says they accept credit cards!
The good thing about a bank transfer is that you would have their banking information (owner address, etc.?) in case conflict would need to be resolved... wouldn't you?
Have you talked to them in person on the phone? If so, that would be a good indicator that they are 'for real'.
Russ.

It costs a lot of $ to put an ad on homeaway.com so I would imagine they are or were at one time at least legit.

Well, I went for it and things look promising. After wiring the deposit (a process which I was really uncomfortable with) I got detailed directions, tips on how to cut costs getting there, etc. Will post later when all is said and done, thanks for your comments!

We will be renting the same house in July, I would appreciate any information that will help our stay be awesome while in Jarabacoa.
Thanks,
Grace
