Though I don't live in Jarabacoa anymore, I received an email just yesterday from a friend living there.
She mentioned that they are OK in Jarabacoa. There has been constant rain for several days and over a week more of it to come.
At least one of the private school canceled classes for the day of Oct 29th, '07 because there was fear that one of Jarabacoa's main bridges could have flooded and washed away.
From what I have experienced, Jarabacoa, being up in the mountains, usually only gets lots of rain and lots of minor winds from the Hurricanes that pass by the D.R.
However, the drainage / ditch systems aren't the best and culverts often get clogged and overflow the roads... rivers and streams rise and cover the floors in some people houses with a blanket of water at times!
